Let’s take a blast into the past shall we?

In July of 2007, a talented new artist by the name of Phạm Anh Khoa officially made his successful Vol 1 debut. What’s even more empowering was the genre he chose to sing-that being Rock.  In my opinions, Khoa might’ve been one of the first(or at least one of the better ones) to go mainstream with the breakthrough of V-rock. The CD was definitely a breath of fresh air compared to all its other contemporaries. And hey, the lyrics are actually meaningful(for the ones that can understand the language). Let’s start.

Con Hạc Giấy (Paper Crane)
Composer: Võ Thiện Thanh

This one’s a more soft rock/ballad type, and is probably one of my favorite songs on the CD ever. The lyrics are beautiful. The imagery is beautiful. The mood & pace of it is beautiful. Overall, the composition is just very well ……composed. Lol.

Đừng Nhìn Lại (Don’t Look Back)
Composer: Lương Bằng Quang

There’s just nothing to NOT like about this song.

Lại Một Ngày (And Another Day)
Composer: Phạm Anh Khoa

…and this.

Ngựa Ô Thương Nhớ
Composer: Trần Tiến

A very fun spin on the traditional folk song. No doubt the best remixed version yet.

Lý Quạ Kêu (Why the Crow Calls)

Another rocked out version of a traditional Vietnamese song; this one just as great as the last.

Một Chiều (One Afternoon)
Composer: Đức Trí

I might as well just write this for every one of these songs but….. really, specifically pay attention to the beautiful lyrics and you’ll be able to enjoy it much more.

Nhắm Mắt (Eyes Closed)
Composer: Tuấn Khanh

OK I lied, other than Paper Crane, THIS is my favorite song.

Tấm Gương Kỳ Diệu (The Mystical Mirror)
Composer: Nguyễn Đạt – Thể hiện: Phạm Anh Khoa

Thời Gian (Time)
Composer: Dũng Đà Lạt

Thời Gian Tôi (My Time)
Composer: Đức Trí

Another absolutely amazing ballad. There are no words to describe my strange fawning over this song  the first time I heard it. Yes, it’s that great.
