Hoàng Bách, an ex-member of the number 1 boyband AC&M, raised sparks when he said:
Q: After the group’s (AC&M) breakup, how is your relationship with the rest of the group?
Hoàng Bách: Truthfully, I am a person who does not want to say good things about all the relationships. But there is a truth that ever since the beginning, AC&M and Bách were never friends, we simply had a business relationship and it is like that until now. Even if we want to be friends beyond the business, it will be very hard. In life there are people who you see once in a year and still see as friends, and then there are people who you’ve been with for 10 years and are nothing.
The interview goes on with Bách saying that he will disappoint his son if he does not have the gut to leave AC&M and agreeing that he is the most higly prized person in AC&M.
Since then, there has been a backlash against the singer calling him “ăn cháo đá bát/eat porridge and kick the bowl” (meaning his ungratefulness to what had given him fame) and some claim that he is purposely creating a scandal to promote his name.
Immediately after the interview done by DanTri, Hoàng Bách had to do at least two more follow up interviews to clarify his statements.
As a fan, I think he has destroyed the image of AC&M in my mind, and I am pretty sure it is the same for many people out there who originally thought this is the best band out there, hoping that the music we hear portrays the same harmony that exists among group members. Unfortunately, there seems to be more discord among the group than we thought. I don’t know, I think this is Hoàng Bách’s faux pas, he should have put it in another way, do us some fanservice! However, what’s done is done, what’s said is said. Hoàng Bách is currently working with Music Faces to release his new CD with songs from Trinh Cong Son, Ngo Thuy Mien, etc …
