Yea.. that seems to be the popular thing to do nowadays. It’s either cafes or clothing shops. Deep down inside, every VietNamese person’s got an entrepreneurial side to them…

The cafe called “Siu Black coffee” is located at 23 Cửu Long, Tân Bình District,  near the Tân Sơn Nhất airport.

Siu Black has been singing and dancing ever since she was little. Her powerful voice was discovered by her teacher at a singing contest in the 1980s.

After graduating from the Dac Lac Arts School in the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of the same name, Siu joined the Dac Lac Arts Troupe in 1989, then returned to Kon Tum Province after deciding to give up her singing career.

In 1993, she took a second job at the Kon Tum Electricity Company, and being in the company’s singing and dancing troupe helped her improve her skills. Black obtained consecutive successes for years and as a result, she won many gold medals at national professional dancing and singing festivals in 1984, 86, 89, 92, 94, 95 and 2004.

She was awarded the ASEAN Golden Voice medal in 1996 in Japan.

In 2007 she served as a judge on the Vietnam Idol television program and the first Asian Idol competition, held in Indonesia in December 2007, representing Vietnam Idol.

Now a veteran performer, Siu Black is still a bright star in the country’s music scene.

And according to mi madre, Siu Black was “THE singer of all VietNamese singers.”

Here’s a clip of Siu Black & Phuong Vy performing “I love rock n Roll” at the Asian Idol 2007 competition.
