ho ngoc ha

Since July 30th, Ho Ngoc Ha‘s highly anticipated first ever single album has officially hit shelves and because we were only waiting for some high quality clips to be uploaded online (tsk ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), our bad for the delay.

So when Ha first had teased us with a performance of “Xin Hay Thu Ha/My Apologies” at the Gold Album Award show, I was actually thinking, “I can dig with the song” (as in if the MV sucked, at least the song still has substance). And then I saw the video and was utterly dissapointed. But hey, at least the song still has substance. It’s justย  that.. it’s gonna have to take a little more than a bunch of giant glowsticks and a few chest pops to keep me interested. Not that it wasn’t interesting or anything. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Idk, maybe that’s just me expecting too much since it was, afterall, Miss Hotstuff Ho Ngoc Ha. Check out the video:

As for the ballad, well…Ho Ngoc Ha is known to rarely disappoint in this genre.

Anyway, I was actually a little more interested in the young rapper featured in the single. Suboi Hang Lam, along with Rapsoul, are the 2 newest members to Music Faces and have only recently made their live debut during this year’s Music Faces summer tour. Before Suboi & Rapsoul were discovered by Music Faces, though, both were already acquaintances via the underground scene. So I’m guessing Music Faces’ intentions for Ho Ngoc Ha’s First Single was to also introduce their new face seeing as to how Suboi actually has a more active role in the following song in comparison to Ho Ngoc Ha’s only lines, “It’s Friday night, lady’s night, get your freak on (?), turn off the lights. Tonight is gurh’s night.” -________-

So the rap could’ve been better written but that’s good enough for someone VietNamese (Gremlinh) to be writing English raps at all. Also, her voice actually fits the genre so I’m definitely hearing potential. Just get better lyrics and you’re set.

The Asian Song Festival 2009 will be aired in 30 countries and territories, including Europe m & the US (not sure which channel).
