April 23rd  marked the successful opening night for photo exhibition “Cau Chuyen Cua Toi – My Better Truth” at the White Palace Convention Center. Stills of various artists and singers captured in their everyday life were put on display and some were auctioned off as a fund raising effort for children born with cardiac illnesses. The mastermind behind this charity event is none other than Ngo Thanh Van, who tirelessly called on her colleagues in the entertainment industry to participate in the photo collection.

Among the more eager volunteers was Dam Vinh Hung, whose photo was auctioned off for a record 35,000 USD and no…he did not buy the photo himself.

Miss Dương Minh (middle) bought this Andy Warhol type photo of DVH for 35.000 USD; Miss Bông (right) donated an extra 10.000 USD; another anonymous source donated 5.000 USD; Total raised form just this photo is 50.000 USD.

Miss Nguyễn Ngọc Thanh Tâm (middle) bought this picture for 22.000 USD; Mr. Phú Quý donated 3.000 USD; Mr. Trần Văn Tuấn (right) donated 10.000 USD, Total raised from just this picture is 35.000 USD.

Another jaw-dropping bid of the night was sealed when an unnamed guest made a bold offer of 10,000 USD to see Ngo Thanh Van smile. Umm, we’re guessing this Daddy Warbucks haven’t heard of Google Image.

A date with Ngo Thanh Van and Johnny Tri Nguyen was also put up for auction, but the article did not mention how much this “item” was sold for. Hmm, how much would you pay to be the awkward third wheel to this dynamic duo?

The fundraising amount totaled to 150,000 USD by the end of the night and VinaCapital Foundation has pledged to donate another 150,000 USD for this cause. The photo displays will be available for public viewing at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum from April 24 – April 27.
